The Brief
The client’s existing workplace was over thirty years old and had not been subject to any major updates in that time. The brief was to create a modern workplace, to help attract and retain talent, and create an environment that was full of energy. However, it also had to show a link to the history of the company. It was also key for the design to support and enhance the operational efficiency of the client.
The Outcome
Axiom carried out a thorough space planning process, which led to a largely open workplace with fewer offices and built zones. This also maximised access to natural light and increased collaboration between teams.
A flexible town hall space was created, which features an operable wall that opens up the boardroom to create one large space, adjoining the kitchen. There are also large screens on both walls of the boardroom to help facilitate communication in the larger space. Easily configurable mobile furniture was also incorporated into the design, allowing for larger events to be held in the space.
Technology considerations also extend into ‘Zoom rooms’ that allow employees to conduct video calls and meetings.
