McGrath Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation that raises money to fund McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities across Australia. It helps individuals experiencing breast cancer, along with their families, by providing physical, psychological and emotional support for free.

The Brief

To assist with the relocation of McGrath Foundation from St Leonards to North Sydney, McGrath required a partner who offered an end-to-end solution, and who could think long term of enhancing the culture of the workplace to attract talent and increase staff collaboration and productivity.

They wanted to allow for smarter storage solutions in the new office, since the huge storage allocation in the St Leonards office was just a misuse of space. Also, McGrath needed to be quite budget conscious due to the fact that they are a not-for-profit organisation.

Additionally, it was critical that their new space reflected who they are, demonstrating the importance of the people at the heart of the foundation – the Breast Care nurses across Australia.

The Outcome

From the first interaction, our teams were perfectly aligned, as we delved into the company’s vision and values, focusing on McGrath’s goals – not where the company was at the start but where it saw itself in the future.

Axiom re-used existing furniture as well as sourced furniture and materials from local suppliers and asked if they were prepared to donate some of the items. We created concealed storage spaces, the exterior of which also served as prime positioning of key McGrath memorabilia. The Axiom team also configured a graphic wall map of Australia in the centre of the workspace which showcased the nurses in each location across the country. Each new nurse would then be added to the map as they join the organisation.

This project culminated in a thoroughly enjoyable working relationship and for the McGrath Foundation office, a visual representation of their tremendous work placing nurses across Australia and a memorabilia wall to demonstrate their history and how far they have come.
